Dostinex is a drug for the treatment of disease due to hyperprolactinemia (increased content of the hormone prolactin in the body): amenorrhea, infertility, prolactin-secreting adenoma of the pituitary, acromegaly. Dostinex is also used for suppression of lactation. Its active substance is kabergolin (Cabergoline).
Dostinex normalizes the content of prolactin in the blood, restores the menstrual cycle. With his help, increases the concentration of estrogen in the body, disappearing symptoms such as increased body weight, fluid retention, acne, hirsutism. Normalization of the content of prolactin occurs within two to four weeks of treatment.
Dostinex serves to suppress lactation in the following cases: if the mother chooses not to breastfeed; and when breast-feeding is contraindicated in either the mother or the child, when stillbirth or abortion. It is also used in the treatment of dysfunction in men and women in the case, if they are to hyperprolactinemia (in women - amenorrhea, oligomenorrhea, anovulation, galactorrhoea, infertility; for men, impotence, reduced libido).
Dostinex should be taken at meal times in accordance with the instructions, supplied with each package. Contraindications is the individual intolerance of components; pregnancy; postpartum psychosis; post partum hypertension.
